Holidays are over

It feels like it was just yesterday when I left for Benidorm but it’s been already 2 weeks. A lot has changed: I’m a bit more tanned and a year older, and a few more of my friends are married now and the UK is largely under water. Yet it feels like it was just yesterday…

Bea and Russell kissingBeatriz and Russell got married in Bilbao last Saturday. We stayed at the Domine, a great hotel opposite the Guggenheim museum, where we enjoyed a great  few days in their company. The reception was gorgeous: we got to sit with Bea and Russell at their table, and the food at Bea’s brother’s restaurant was the best I’ve had for a very long time. Really a shining example of the type of modern Spanish cooking that is taking the foodie world by storm. Then back to the hotel where we shared the bar with Loquillo, who must have been staying at the same place, maybe fresh from playing warm-up to the Rolling Stones; a quick drink at a nearby bar and a big hangover with breakfast the next day. Big enough indeed to make us extend the stay a night longer just to keep use of the room and have a massive lie-in until 7pm.

Now we’re back, dinner’s ready and I’m off to eat and sleep. Sleep…
